"Licenses", sub-title "Traders", be and the same is hereby
repealed.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That Section 44 of Article
56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Licenses", sub-title "Traders", be and the same is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

44. If it shall appear from the written application for a
trader's license that the amount of the applicant's stock in
trade does not or will not exceed one thousand dollars, the
sum of fifteen dollars shall be demanded and received by said
clerk from said applicant before granting the license applied
for.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That all Acts and parts
of Acts, whether public general or public local, or special, in-
consistent with the provisions of this Act, be and they are
hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That in the event a De-
partment of Revenue and Taxes should not be created by a
law passed at the present session of the General Assembly,
then all duties and powers conferred by this Act upon the
Department of Revenue and Taxes shall be exercised and per-
formed by the Comptroller, and wherever the words "Depart-
ment of Revenue and Taxes" are used in this Act, the word
"Comptroller" shall be substituted.

SEC. 9. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 792.

(House Bill 665)
AN ACT to alter and amend the laws relating to income taxes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be added to Article 81 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Revenue and
Taxes", sub-title "Income Tax", said new section to follow
immediately after Section 222(o) to be known as Section
222(p) and to read as follows:
