health officers by the Code of Public General Laws of Mary-
land.

SEC. 18. There may be appointed a fire marshal, a cor-
poration counsel, and such inspectors, boards and employees
as they may determine advisable.

SEC. 19. Before entering upon the duties of his office the
Mayor shall take the Constitutional Oath of Office before the
Clerk of the Circuit Court or one of his deputies, and all
other elective and appointive officers shall, before entering
upon the duties of their office, take the Constitutional Oath of
Office before the Mayor, and the certificate of all oaths shall
be filed with the Town Clerk and shall become a part of the
records of the town.

SEC. 20. All persons appointed to any municipal office shall
hold their respective offices or positions until the new Mayor
and Council is sworn in after each election, and until their
successors are appointed and qualified, unless suspended or
removed from office as provided in Chapter 88 of the Acts of
the General Assembly of Maryland of 1939.

SEC. 21. The Treasurer and town police and/or special
officers, shall give bond to the Mayor and Town Council in
such penalty and with such sureties as the Mayor and Town
Council may require, conditioned upon the faithful perform-
ance of the duties or their respective offices, and to account
for all funds of the town which may come into their hands.
Provided, that the bond of the Treasurer shall be in the
amount of at least twice the sum of money ordinarily handled
by him at any one time.

SEC. 22. The Mayor and Town Council may pass such ordi-
nances as they may deem advisable for the good government,
welfare, health, sanitation, safety, morals and improvement
of said town, and for the preservation of peace and good
order therein, and to prevent and remove all nuisances; they
shall have control and supervision over the streets, roads,
alleys, sidewalks, parks and public places of said town, with
power to open and close streets and alleys by following the
same procedure as nearly as is applicable to the procedure
required by the County Commissioners in opening and closing
roads; they may provide for the removal and disposal of gar-
bage and refuse; they may impose licenses for the operating
or conducting of places of amusement or entertainment, or
for the operating or conducting of any business or industry
and to provide for the revocation of such licenses, and to fix
