urer and Councilman from that particular ward, with a blank
space for writing in a name following the names of the can-
didates for each office, and with a square opposite each name
and opposite said blank for the X mark of the voter.

At least 48 hours before the time for election, sample copies
of the ballots for each ward shall be posted in a public place
in each of the respective wards.

Suitable ballot boxes, polling places, printed ballots, tally
sheets, etc., shall be provided by the Mayor and Town Council.

The Mayor and Town Council shall cause the registration
book or books to be delivered to the Judges of Election prior
to the opening of the polls, and only those persons who are
duly registered shall be permitted to vote.

SEC. 13. Immediately upon the closing of the polls after
each election, the ballot boxes shall be opened, and the ballots
shall be publicly counted, and the Judges of Election shall
within two days thereafter make a true and correct return of
the results of said election. The returns shall be made to the
Mayor and Town Council in a sealed envelope and within 4
days thereafter the Mayor and Town Council shall meet and
canvass said return and publicly declare the results thereof,
and declare who has been duly elected to the respective offices.

Immediately after the counting of the ballots the Judges of
Election shall put back in the ballot boxes used at said elec-
tion, the ballots taken therefrom, and shall seal said ballot
boxes by pasting a strip of paper over the slit, upon which
paper the Judges and Clerks of Election shall sign their names
so that the boxes may not be opened without destroying said
seal. The ballot boxes containing the ballots shall be kept
by the Judges of Election for thirty days from the date of said
election, unless there is a re-count, in which case they shall be
kept until said re-counting is finally concluded. After the
thirty days has elapsed, or the re-count has been concluded,
the Judges of Election shall open said ballot boxes and destroy
said ballots.

Any defeated candidate at such election may contest the
same and the Circuit Court for Prince George's County shall
have jurisdiction to determine such contest. No such contest
shall, however, be considered unless a petition is filed in the
Circuit Court for Prince George's County within seven days,
exclusive of Sundays and legal holidays, after the decision of
the Mayor and Town Council on said election shall be made.

In case any proposition other than the election of officials
is submitted to a referendum, any legally qualified voter who
has voted at such election shall have a similar right of contest-
ing the result of such election.

In case of the failure of an election by reason of a tie vote,
the Mayor and Town Council shall order and provide for a run
