with amendments, Sections 45 and 50 of Article 22 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Washington County", sub-title "Boonsboro", and to
enact five new sections to be known as 45A, 45B, 45C, 45D,
and 45E, to follow immediately after Section 45 of said
article, providing for the manner of nominating candidates
for the office of Mayor, Assistant Mayor, and Councilmen
of said town; giving notice of the date of election, prescrib-
ing the form of ballots and method of conducting town elec-
tions, and providing penalties for violations of election laws.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 44 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Lo-
cal Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub-title "Boonsboro" as amended by Chapter 178
of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland for the Ses-
sion of 1939, be and the same is hereby repealed, and re-en-
acted, with amendments, and that nine new sections be and
they are hereby added to said article, said new sections to be
known as 44B, 44C, 44D, 44E, 44F, 44G, 44H, 44-1 and 44J, to
follow immediately after Section 44A of said article and to
read as follows, to wit:
44. The citizens of Boonsboro of the age of twenty-one
years and upwards who shall be first duly registered as here-
inafter prescribed shall on the second Monday in May in the
year 1942, and not before, and upon the same day every sec-
ond year thereafter, elect by ballot a person, not under twenty-
five years of age, a citizen of the United States and a reg-
istered voter of the State of Maryland and three years a resi-
dent of the said town next preceding the election, to be Mayor
of said town. He shall take the oath of office as hereinafter
prescribed for town officers, and remain in office until his suc-
cessor is elected and qualified. At the same time and in the
same manner there shall also be elected five persons having
the same qualifications herein prescribed for the office of Mayor
to be Councilmen of Boonsboro, and also one person of like
qualification to be Assistant Mayor. Provided that nothing
in this Act shall in any way affect the term, powers or duties
of the present Mayor, Assistant Mayor and Councilmen of
Boonsboro who were elected to their respective offices on the
second Monday of May 1940, for a term of two years.
44B. Every citizen of Boonsboro who has resided within
the corporate limits of the said town for one year next pre-
ceding any regular town election, and who was a qualified
voter at the last preceding State or Congressional election of
the age of twenty-one years or over shall be entitled to reg-
ister as herein provided, and thereafter to vote at any election
