be enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as Section 679, and
to read as follows:
679. The County Commissioners of Baltimore County
are authorized, whenever in their judgment it becomes
necessary to do so,, for the preservation of the public
health, safety and morals, to levy in each year not more
than two cents (2c. ) on each one hundred ($100. 00) dol-
lars of the taxable basis in The Metropolitan Area of Bal-
timore County, for the purpose of constructing new side-
walks in the thickly populated sections of said County
and/or maintaining and repairing such sidewalks as may
be already constructed therein.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on and after June 1, 1941.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
129 of Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", as amended by Chapter 245
of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland 1935,
providing for an increase in the salaries of the County
Commissioners of Cecil County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 129 of Article 8 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", as amended
by Chapter 245 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
1935, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
129. The County Commissioners of Cecil County as
now constituted and holding office or hereafter elected or
appointed shall receive an annual salary of fifteen hun-
dred dollars in lieu of all other compensation and shall be
allowed five cents for each mile actually traveled in the
performance of their official duties, and shall be required
to devote all of their time to the duties of said office.
