in their discretion, shall determine, and to be used only
for the purpose of purchasing and repairing fire apparatus
and equipment; provided, however, that no payments shall
be made to any company or department which has any
resolutions or regulations limiting the territory within
which it will respond to calls. Each Volunteer Fire Com-
pany receiving any of the above funds shall submit an
annual report to said County Commissioners, giving a
detailed statement of the expenditures of said fund or
funds, and no payment shall be made to any Volunteer Fire
Company until it shall have submitted such report showing
the expenditures of said fund for the preceding year.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 198.
(Senate Bill 307)
AN ACT making it the duty of the County Treasurer of
Garrett County to collect certain taxes and directing him
to do and submit a report relative thereto.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That -it shall be the duty of the County Treas-
urer of Garrett County and he is hereby mandatorily
directed to enforce, on or before December 1, 1940, the
payment of all taxes due and remaining unpaid for the year
1937 and for any year prior thereto or to secure a declara-
tion of insolvency therefor. The said Treasurer shall
submit a report to the County Commissioners of Garrett
County during the month of December, 1940, showing the
balance due and uncollected for the year 1937 and all years
prior thereto on account of insolvency and shall transmit a
copy of said report to each member of the General
Assembly of Maryland from Garrett County at the time he
submits same to the said County Commissioners.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1939.
