CHAPTER 199.
(Senate Bill 318)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Section
123 of Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent County", sub-title
"Chestertown", sub-heading "Water Board", relating to
the election of members of the Water Board of Chester-
town and providing for their salary as such officers.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Section 123 of Article 15 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, (1930 Edition), title "Kent
County", sub-title "Chestertown", sub-heading "Water
Board", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments so as to read as follows:

Water Board.

123. On the third Monday of March, 1941, at the regu-
lar election for The Mayor and Council of Chestertown, the
duly qualified voters of Chesterstown entitled to vote for
the said members of The Mayor and Council thereof, shall
elect by ballot, a Water Board which shall consist of three
persons, each of whom shall have the same qualifications as
those required of members of The Mayor and Council of
Chestertown, one of whom shall hold office for two years,
one of whom shall hold office for four years and one of
whom shall hold office for six years and until their succes-
sors are elected and qualified, and the said duly qualified
voters of Chestertown entitled to vote for members of The
Mayor and Council thereof, shall elect by ballot; on the third
Monday in March, 1943, and in each year thereafter, at a
regular election of a member of The Mayor and Council of
Chestertown, one member of said Water Board, with the
qualifications above named, who shall hold office for two
years and until his successor is elected and qualified, and
the members of the Water Board of Chestertown to be
elected as aforesaid shall qualify in the same manner as do
the members of The Mayor and Council of Chestertown,
and the said Water Board shall hold public meetings on the
second Monday in each month of the year, and the said
members of the Board shall receive as a salary the sum of
Twenty-four dollars ($24. 00) per year. Any vacancy in
said Water Board created by death, resignation or other-
wise, shall be filled for the unexpired term by The Mayor
and Council of Chestertown.
