CHAPTER 20.
(Senate Bill 60)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 334 and 335 of Article 21 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Talbot
County, " sub-title "Oxford, " and to add five new sections
to said Article, said new sections to be known as Sec-
tions 335A to 335E, inclusive, and to follow immediately
after Section 335 of said Article, relating to the appoint-
ment of the President, and the appointment and qualifi-
cation, powers and duties of the Town Clerk of the town
of Oxford.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 334 and 335 of Article 21 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Talbot County, " sub-title "Oxford, " be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and
that five new sections be and they are hereby added to
said Article, said new sections to be known as Sections
335A to 335E, inclusive, to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 335 of said Article, and to read as follows:
334. The said commissioners shall have power to meet
and adjourn from time to time as they shall think proper,
and at their first meeting after an election of com-
missioner shall choose from their own body a president,
who shall preside at all their meetings, vote on all ques-
tions before them, and remain in office until superseded
by the appointment of a new president; they may
also appoint from their own number (or other persons, )
three judges and one clerk of election, and administer to
them the necessary oaths.
335. At the first meeting after an election of a commis-
sioner, the commissioners shall appoint some person, not
from their own body, whose official title shall be "Town
Clerk, " to serve for a period of two years, or until his
successor shall be duly appointed and qualified, and it
shall be his duty to attend all meetings of the commission-
ers and act as Clerk thereof; he shall be collector of
taxes and of all other sums receivable, and Treasurer of
the town, and shall be at the office of the commissioners,
on such days and hours as may be provided by ordinance
and resolution, and he shall perform such other duties
as may be provided by law and the commissioners may
