107-A. On and after June 1, 1939, it shall be unlawful
for any person, firm or corporation to establish, maintain
or operate any walkathon contest, marathon contest, or
similar public exhibition of physical skill and endurance,
outside the limits of any incorporated town or city of Al-
legany County without first obtaining a permit from the
County Commissioners of Allegany County. The County
Commissioners of Allegany County shall have authority to
grant or refuse such permission or to grant the same for
such time and under such rules and regulations as they
may deem proper for the public welfare, and shall also
have the right to revoke any such permit for cause after
•notice and hearing. Any person, firm or corporation
establishing, maintaining or operating any such contest or
exhibition as herein described without first securing the
said permission, or operating or maintaining the same in
violation of the rules and regulations adopted by said
Commissioners, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor; and, upon
conviction thereof, shall be subject to a fine of not less than
One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00) or more than Five Hun-
dred Dollars ($500. 00) for each such offense, and such
contest or exhibition shall also be subject to be abated as
a nuisance.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 146.

(House Bill 95)

AN ACT to authorize and provide funds for the purchase of a
hook and ladder fire truck for the Town of Hyattsville, in
Prince George's County, Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That in order to provide adequate protection from fire,
the Mayor and Common Council of Hyattsville, in Prince
George's County, be and it is hereby authorized and empowered
to purchase on a deferred payment plan, on the faith and
credit of the Mayor and Common Council of Hyattsville, one
modern hook and ladder fire truck and equipment at a price
not to exceed $20, 000. 00, and to make, execute and deliver such
note or notes or other evidence of indebtedness as may be re-
quired to properly acknowledge and pay said debt, which shall
bear interest at not to exceed six per cent, per annum.
