"Montgomery County", sub-title "Garrett Park", as said
section was amended by Chapter 130 of the Acts of 1936
(Special Session), be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments to read as follows:

434. (a) The Town of Garrett Park is hereby author-
ized and empowered to purchase any property within its
corporate limits offered for sale for the payment of taxes;
provided it shall not bid a sum greater than the amount
for which it was advertised and so offered and to sell and
convey, lease or otherwise dispose of the same upon such
conditions and limitations as in the judgment and discre-
tion of the Council shall be deemed for the best interest
of the town.

(b) The Town of Garrett Park is hereby further
authorized and empowered to purchase, accept by way of
gift or otherwise acquire any outstanding equities, claims
or other muniments of title of whatsoever character or
nature deemed necessary to acquire a fee simple title with-
out cloud or other impediment to title to any property
within its corporate limits, provided such property has
been purchased at a tax sale by public officials on behalf
of or by the State, Montgomery County or Garrett Park
and so held for a period of at least five (5) years; and to
hold, sell and convey, lease or otherwise dispose of the
same upon such conditions and limitations as in the judg-
ment and discretion of the Council shall be deemed for the
best interest of the town. The provisions of this section
shall apply to all tax titles now held or hereafter acquired
by the Town of Garrett Park under the powers granted by
said section.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or
parts of laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act
be and they are hereby repealed to the extent of such incon-
sistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act be
and it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety, and being passed upon a yea and nay vote, sup-
ported by three-fifths of all of the members elected to each
of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
