Compensation", and to repeal and re-enact with amend-
ments Section 48 of said Article, sub-title "Boards of
License Commissioners—Appeals".

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Section 46 of Article 2B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, 1935 Supplement, title "Alcoholic
Beverages", sub-title "Boards of License Commissioners—
Employees and Compensation", be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as
follows:

46. Boards of License Commissioners—Employees and
Compensation. In addition to the powers hereinbefore
provided, the said respective Boards shall be authorized to
employ a secretary and such inspectors, clerical and other
assistance as may be necessary, and to fix the compensation
of such employees, subject to the approval of the Comp-
troller, except as otherwise provided by this Act. In
Baltimore City, no Commissioner, or employee of the Board
shall have any interest, direct or indirect, either proprie-
tary or by means of any loan, mortgage or lien, or in any
other manner, in or on any premises where alcoholic bev-
erages are manufactured or sold; nor shall he have any
interest, direct or indirect, in any business wholly or
partially devoted to the manufacturer or sale of alcoholic
beverages, or own any stock in any corporation which has
any interest, proprietary or otherwise, direct or indirect,
in any premises where alcoholic beverages are manufac-
tured or sold or in any business wholly or partially devoted
to the manufacture or sale of alcoholic beverages, or hold
any other public office or employment, Federal, State or
local. Every employee of said Board shall devote his whole
time and attention to the business of the Board and shall
not engage in any other occupation, business or profession,
unless specifically hired by said Board on a part-time basis,
provided that at any one time there shall not be more than
ten persons so employed by the Board on a part-time basis.
Any employee of said Board who violates any of the pro-
visions of this Section shall be removed. No commissioner
or employee of the Board shall solicit or receive directly or
indirectly any commission, remuneration or gift whatsoever
from any person, or corporation engaged in the manufac-
ture or sale of beer or other alcoholic beverages, nor from
any agent or employee of such person or corporation, or
from any licensee, licensed under the provisions of this
Article. No person or corporation engaged in the manufac-
ture or sale of beer or other alcoholic beverages, nor any
agent or employee of such person or corporation, and no
