1446 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 691

"Hucksters", said new section to be known as Section 203A
and to follow immediately after Section 203 of said Article
and to read as follows:

203A. From and after June 1, 1939, it shall be unlawful
for any person, association, firm or corporation to hawk, sell,
peddle, vend, or offer for sale, in or upon the streets or high-
ways of Somerset County, at retail, or go from house to house
either in a vehicle or on foot, upon the streets or highways of
said County, for the purpose of hawking, selling, peddling,
vending, or offering for sale, at retail, any fruits, bakery
products, vegetables, fish, or oysters, without having pre-
viously obtained from the Clerk of the Court a license so to do,
for which each person, association, firm or corporation shall
pay the sum of $300 per annum, in advance, for each vehicle
so used on the streets or highways of the County.

The provisions of this section shall not apply to the sale of
milk, ice, nor to vegetables, bakery products, butter, eggs,
poultry, fruit, fish, oysters or country produce sold or offered
for sale by the makers, producers or growers thereof, who are
residents of Somerset County.

No person, association, firm or corporation so authorized to
hawk, sell, peddle, vend or offer for sale any of the articles
hereinbefore described shall maintain what is known as a
sidewalk stand or place for selling, but shall keep continu-
ously moving, and not hawk, sell, peddle, vend, or offer for
sale such article in any one place.

Any person, association, firm or corporation violating or
failing to comply with the provisions of this section shall,
upon conviction, for each and every offense, be subject to a
fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100. 00) nor less than
ten dollars ($10. 00), and upon failure or refusal to pay the
same shall be committed to the jail of Somerset County for
a period not exceeding thirty (30) days.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts
of laws, whether Public General or Public Local Laws, incon-
sistent with the provisions of this Act, be and they are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.
