HERBERT R. O'CONOR, GOVERNOR. 1219

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 160A of Article 3 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1929 and 1930 Editions), title
"Baltimore County", sub-title "County Treasurer", be and it
is hereby repealed, and that a new section be and it is hereby
added to said Article, said new section to be known as Section
151A, to follow immediately after Section 151 of said Article,
and to read as follows:

151A. The present Treasurer of Baltimore County shall
immediately after this Act takes effect, and thereafter each
succeeding County Treasurer shall immediately after he takes
the oath of office as Treasurer of Baltimore County, appoint an
Attorney at Law, who shall be a member of the Baltimore
County Bar and maintain a law office in Towson, who shall
be the legal adviser to the Treasurer, and represent him in
all matters coming before the Courts to which the Treasurer
may be a party, or in which he may have an interest. He
shall, on behalf of the Treasurer, conduct all proceedings by
way of sale, suit, or otherwise, to enforce the payment of over-
due and delinquent taxes in Baltimore County, including
special assessments of every kind, and Metropolitan District
charges. The said Counsel to the Treasurer shall receive for
his services the sum of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($2, 500. 00) annually, payable in equal monthly payments, and
the County Commissioners shall make provision for and pay
said salary as herein provided, and said Counsel to the
Treasurer shall receive no other fees, commissions, or compen-
sation of any kind in addition to the said salary of Two Thou-
sand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00) per annum. The said
counsel so appointed by the County Treasurer shall hold office
at the pleasure of the Treasurer.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That any and all other
laws or parts of laws, whether general or local, inconsistent
with the provisions of this Act, be and the same are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.
