Article, establishing a Board to be known as the ''Salary
Standard Board" to prepare a compensation schedule and
determine minimum and maximum salaries for the various
classes of position in the Classified Service of the State, and
with authority to make rules and regulations for the admin-
istration of this Act, which schedule and rules, after ap-
proval by the Governor, shall have the force of law and shall
be employed thereafter as a basis for salary requisitions by
Departments and Institutions for succeeding budgets.

(House Bill 703)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 89 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Statistics and In-
formation as to Branches of Industry", sub-title "Bureau
of Mines", Title II—"Inspectors and Inspections", provid-
ing for the appointment of an inspector of weights and
platform scales, said new section to be known as Section
31B, and to follow immediately after Section 31A of said
Article 89.

AN ACT to amend the sub-title preceding Section 5 of Article
31 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title
"Debt—Public", sub-title "Sinking Fund Investments", said
sub-title to be amended to read, "Security for Sinking
Funds", and to add one new section to Article 31 to follow
immediately after Section 5 thereof and to be known as
Section 5A, directing any treasurer or other financial officer
referred to in Section 5 to demand and receive security for
any deposit of uninvested sinking fund monies, from the
banking institutions or trust companies in which such de-
posits are made.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sub-title preceding Section 5 of Article 31 of
the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Debt—
