be provided for members of said Police Department having the
rating of lieutenants; and the Linemen in said Division shall
receive such salary and compensation as is now or many here-
after be provided for members of said Police Department hav-
ing the rating of sergeants.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 954 of
said Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as
follows:

954. The said Police Commissioner for the City of Balti-
more is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to include
the Superintendent, Foreman and Linemen in the service of
said Commissioner, and those who may hereafter be employed
in like capacity within the provisions of Section 946 of this
Article, so that they may enjoy the same rights, privileges and
benefits, subject to the same limitations and conditions as are
therein prescribed and conferred for the retiring of members
of the Police Force for the City of Baltimore, provided, how-
ever, that any of the persons herein mentioned, shall pay into
the special fund the regular percentage from the time of their
appointments with interest in addition to the rate of percent-
age required under this section, and thereafter the regular
percentage required under the special pension Act.

SEC. 3. And be It further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 589.
(House Bill 797)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 11 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Fred-
erick County", to be under sub-title "Refuse—Dumping",
said new section to be known as Section 699A and to follow
immediately after Section 699 of said Article, prohibiting
the maintenance of a dump within five hundred feet of a
State highway.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Nary-
land,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Frederick County", to be under sub-title "Refuse—
