selling or giving away of birds of the psittacine family, it
shall not apply to such birds in the possession of dealers there-
of at the time this Act takes effect. Any person violating any
of the provisions of this Act, or any order or regulation of
the State Board of Health lawfully made pursuant thereto,
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to a fine
of not more than fifty dollars ($50) for each offense.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 588.
(House Bill 189)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 4 of Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1938
Edition), title "Baltimore City", subtitle "Police Commis-
sioner", said new section to be known as Section 883A and
to follow immediately after Section 883 of said Article and
to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 954 of said
Article, relating to the classification and pay of the Super-
intendent, Foreman and Linemen of the Telephone and Sig-
nal Division of the Police Department of Baltimore City
and providing that the Superintendent and Foreman of said
Telephone and Signal Division shall be entitled to the
benefits of the Special Fund of the said Police Department.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Ar-
ticle 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland and
Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore
City", subtitle "Police Commissioner", said new section to be
known as Section 883A, to follow immediately after Section
883 of said Article, and to read as follows:

883A. The Superintendent, Foreman and Linemen of the
Telephone and Signal Division of the Police Department of
Baltimore City are hereby classified as in the service of the
Police Commissioner and shall receive the following com-
pensation: the Superintendent of said Division shall receive
such salary and compensation as is now or may hereafter be
provided for members of said Police Department having the
rating of captains; the Foreman in said Division shall re-
ceive such salary and compensation as is now or hereafter may
