SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That two new sections be and they are hereby added
to Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Calvert County, " sub-title "Circuit
Court, " said new sections to be known as Sections 72A and
72B, to follow immediately after Section 72 of said Article,
and to read as follows:
72A. The judges of the Circuit Court for Calvert County
be and they are hereby authorized and directed to appoint an
official court reporter for said court, who shall be an ex-
pert stenographer, shall be a sworn officer of said court, shall
hold office during the pleasure of the judges of said court, and
shall be paid a per diem to be fixed by the court, not to exceed
$12. 00 for each and every day of actual service, payable by
the County Treasurer of said county as a part of the court
expenses, upon the presentation of the certificate of the clerk
or any of the judges of said court, showing the attendance and
services of said reporter.
72B. Said reporter shall attend and take full stenographic
notes of all oral testimony and judicial opinions in all proceed-
ings in said court at such times and in such cases as the court
may direct. And said reporter shall make and furnish to
any party, upon request, a typewritten transcript of any part
of said notes, on payment by such party of the expense of such
transcript at a rate not exceeding twenty cents for every hun-
dred words.
The court may, in any equity case pending in said court,
direct such reporter to transcribe the notes taken with respect
to such case, and the cost thereof at the rate aforesaid shall
be taxed as a part of the cost in such case.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1931.

Code of Maryland (1929 Supplement), title "Elections, "
sub-title "Registration, " said new section to be known as
Section 28B and to follow immediately after Section 28A
