and City of Baltimore.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1931.

CHAPTER 174.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 1,
2 and 3 of Chapter 270 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1927, to authorize and empower the County
Commissioners of Caroline County to pay annually an
amount not exceeding five thousand dollars ($5, 000. 00) to
certain volunteer fire companies in Caroline County so long
as said fire companies remain active bodies, and active fire
fighting organizations, for their benefit and for certain pur-
poses, and to levy said amount on the assessable property
of said county and to provide for the date on which said
payment shall be made.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Chapter 270 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1927 be and the
same are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, so*
as to read as follows:
1. That the County Commissioners of Caroline County be
and they are hereby authorized and empowered to pay
annually an amount not exceeding five thousand dollars
($5, 000. 00) to the several volunteer fire companies so long as-
said fire companies remain active bodies, and active fire fight-
ing organizations for their benefit, said sum of money to be
used by the respective fire companies for the purchase, repair
or maintenance of fire fighting equipment.
2. That said payment shall be. made on the first day of
September in each and every year by the County Commis-
sioners of Caroline County, and it shall be distributed in equal
proportions to the five following fire companies of Caroline
County, viz: The Dent on Volunteer Fire Company, of Dent on,.
