section to immediately follow Section 742 providing for the re-
tirement and pensioning of the Chief Deputy in the office of the
Sheriff of Baltimore County.
Section 742A. The Sheriff of Baltimore County be and he is
hereby authorized to retire the Chief Deputy Sheriff of Balti-
more County from office upon his application in writing to the
Sheriff for retirement, provided said Chief Deputy Sheriff has
become permanently disabled while in the active performance
of duty or has reached the age of fifty-five years, and has per-
formed faithful service as such Chief Deputy Sheriff for a con-
tinuous period of not less than twenty years; and the County
Commissioners shall, upon written notice from the Sheriff of such
retirement, place such retired Chief Deputy Sheriff upon the
pension rolls of their office and pay to such pensioned Chief
Deputy Sheriff annually a sum of money equal to one-half the
yearly amount being received as salary by such Chief Deputy
Sheriff at the time of his retirement. The said amount shall be
payable in equal monthly installments and shall in no event
continue after the payment of the current month in which such
pensioner may die; and the County Commissioners shall levy
such tax upon the assessable property of Baltimore County as
may be necessary to raise the sum or sums of money hereinbefore
provided for.

CHAPTER 127.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 368
of Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Anne Arundel County, " sub-title "Jus-
tices of the Peace and Constables, " to authorize the County
Commissioners of Anne Arundel County to pay salaries to the
Justices of the Peace in the Second Precinct of the Third
Election District and in the Second Precinct of the Second
Election District of said county.
Section. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 368 of Article 2 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Anne Arundel
County, " sub-title "Justices of the Peace and Constables, " be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, to
