($800, 000. 00) dollars, and to issue and sell bonds therefor,
the proceeds thereof to be used by the State Roads Com-
mission of Maryland for the construction and improvement
of a road of a minimum improved width of eighteen (18)
feet, leading from Cumberland in Allegany County, Mary-
land, to the Maryland side of the Potomac River opposite
the Town of Paw Paw, West Virginia; to provide for an
annual levy on the assessable property of Allegany County
to pay the interest and principal on said bonds when due;
and providing for the payment of certain funds to the Treas-
urer of Allegany County by the State Roads Commission
of Maryland; and to provide that said Act be passed as an
emergency measure.
WHEREAS, The County Commissioners of Allegany County
and the State Roads Commission of Maryland have agreed that
in the event the County Commissioners of Allegany County
borrow the sum of eight hundred thousand ($800, 000. 00) dol-
lars, the State Roads Commission will expend said sum or so
much thereof as may be necessary in Allegany County for the
construction and improvement of a road of a minimum im-
proved width of eighteen (18) feet, leading from Cumber-
land, Allegany County, Maryland, to the Potomac River oppo-
site Paw Paw, West Virginia.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Allegany Coun-
ty be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to issue,
from time to time, serial coupon bonds on the faith and credit
of said county to the amount of eight hundred thousand
($800, 000. 00) dollars par value, in denominations of one
hundred ($100. 00) dollars or any multiple thereof, as may
seem advisable to said County Commissioners of Allegany
County, to bear interest from date, payable semi-annually in
each year during which said bonds shall be outstanding and
remain unpaid, at a rate not to exceed five (5) per centum per
annum, to be determined by said County Commissioners of
Allegany County; said bonds when issued to be signed by the
President of the County Commissioners of said county and
countersigned by the Clerk thereof (provided that the coupons
for the interest thereon may be authenticated by the engraved,
lithographed or printed signature of the President of said
County Commissioners), to have the corporate seal of said
