The Mayor shall be the executive officer of the town and it
shall be his duty to see that all ordinances thereof are duly
enforced. He shall have the general supervision over all de-
partments and employees.

96.      The Mayor shall be President of the Council, preside
at its meetings and shall have the right to discuss and vote
upon any question coming before the Council. He shall have
no power to veto any measure, but every ordinance, measure
or resolution passed by the Council must be signed by the*
Mayor and two Councilmen, or by three Councilmen, and be
recorded before same shall become effective and enforceable.

He shall have power to call special meetings of the Council
upon one day's notice whenever in his opinion the public good
may require it. In times of public danger, whenever it is im-
possible to convene the Council, he shall have power to appoint
officers of the peace and safety for said town, charged with the
duty of obtaining the peace and order thereof, who shall be
subject to his orders and while in service perform such duties
as he may require and have the same powers as the regular
police force.

The Mayor, with the approval of the Council, shall make all
contracts, purchase material and supplies and employ such
laborers as may be necessary for work ordered done by the
Council. He shall have power to remove any of the officers,,
agents, or employees appointed or employed by him for neglect
of duty on their part or other reasonable cause, but he shall
report any removal so made to the Council at its regular meet-
ing, for its approval or disapproval.

97.      Councilmen elected hereunder shall qualify on the first
Monday in April before the Mayor and make the same oath,
as required of the Mayor.

Regular meetings of the Council shall be held on the first
Monday of every month at such time as they may fix. Special
meetings of the Council may be held at any time on the call
of the Mayor and two members or by three members, upon
reasonable notice being given to each member of the Council.
All meetings shall be open to the public.

In case the Mayor is unable to perform the duties of his
office by reason of temporary or continued absence or sickness,
the said Council shall appoint by ballot, by a majority vote of
all members thereof, one of their number to act in his stead,
whose official designation shall be "Acting Mayor, " and the
