clerk, as follows:
State of Maryland,
County of Allegany, to wit:

case may be), to the best of my ability, without prejudice,,
fear, favor or partiality.

Justice of the Peace.
The Mayor of said town shall preside at all meetings of the
Mayor and Commissioners of Barton and shall be entitled to
a vote upon any motion or question before them for decision,,
and he shall execute all ordinances passed by them and he shall
be ex-officio chairman of all committees appointed by them.
The Mayor and Commissioners shall meet in general session at
least once a month at a time determined by them, and in spe-
cial sessions whenever called by the Mayor and as often as
occasion may require for the welfare and good government of
the said town.
15. The said Mayor and Commissioners or a majority of
them shall have full power and authority annually at their first
meeting on the fourth Monday in June, to appoint a Clerk,,
Treasurer and an Attorney, and also a Bailiff and such other
police officers as may be deemed necessary, and allow them such,
compensation for their services as may be deemed proper.
The said Clerk and Treasurer, and said Bailiff and other
policemen, so appointed under this section, before entering
upon the duties of their respective offices, shall take an oath, to-
be administered by the Mayor of Barton and which shall be
in writing and, with the exception of the oath of the Clerk,
filed with the Clerk, the oath of the Clerk to be filed with the
Treasurer, as follows:
