(Clerk, Treasurer, Bailiff, Policeman, as the case may be) to
the best of my ability, skill and judgment, without prejudice,
fear, favor, affection or partiality.

Taken, subscribed and sworn to before me, the undersigned
authority, this......day of............, 19....

Mayor of Barton.

The said Mayor and Commissioners shall define the duties
of the said Clerk and said Treasurer. All ordinances passed
by the said Mayor and Commissioners shall be entered by the
Clerk in a book to be kept for that purpose and shall be open
at all times for the inspection of any person interested; and
copies of all ordinances passed by said Mayor and Commis-
sioners shall be posted by said Clerk in three (3) public places
in said town within thirty days after their passage.

The said Treasurer, in addition to the oath prescribed, shall
give bond to the Mayor and Commissioners of Barton, in an
amount to be fixed and determined by the said Mayor and
Commissioners, for the faithful performance of his duties.

And the said Bailiff and other policemen who may be ap-
pointed shall serve warrants and make arrests for violation of
the ordinances of said town, and it shall be their duty to pre-
serve the peace and good order of the said town at all times,
for these purposes the said bailiff and policemen are hereby
vested with the same power and authority as constables of the
said county now have under the laws of this State.

17. The said The Mayor and Commissioners of Barton shall
have power to levy an equal tax within the corporate limits of
said town, to such an extent or amount each year and not ex-
ceeding fifty cents on each one hundred dollars' worth of as-
sessed valuation as they may deem necessary for the govern-
ment of said town. Taxes so levied and assessed shall be prop-
erly collected by the Clerk of said town and by the said Clerk
paid over as collected, or within five days thereafter, to the
Treasurer of said town; and the Clerk of said town shall have
the same power to distrain for taxes as the Tax Collectors of
Allegany County now have to distrain for the same; and the
said Mayor and Commissioners shall fix and determine the
amount of the bond of said Clerk, and said bond shall guarantee
