CHAPTER 412.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners
of Baltimore County to construct and lay a sidewalk on Har-
ford Road, from the Baltimore City line to Joppa Road,
upon petition of property owners and to provide for special
tax levy to pay for same upon the property within certain
designated area adjoining said Harford Road.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That whenever not less than one hundred owners of
property within the area hereinafter described shall jointly
petition, in writing, the County Commissioners of Baltimore
County to construct and lay a sidewalk on Harford Road, be-
tween the Baltimore City line and the Joppa Road, it shall
be the duty of the said County Commissioners, and they are
hereby authorized and directed to construct and lay a sidewalk
four feet wide on said Harford Road from the Baltimore City
line to the Joppa Road, the sidewalk to be on that side of the
Harford Road which, in the discretion and judgment of the
said County Commissioners, will be most suitable and appro-
priate. The said sidewalk shall be constructed of such mate-
rial and in such manner as said County Commissioners shall
determine.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That in order to pay for
the cost of constructing and laying the sidewalk as provided
for in Section 1 of this Act, the County Commissioners of
Baltimore County are hereby authorized and directed to levy
and collect a tax upon the property within the following
boundaries:

Beginning at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and the
Baltimore City line, thence north with said Wilson Avenue to
Ferguson Lane; thence southwest with said Ferguson Lane to
Joppa Road; thence west with said Joppa Road to Satre Hill
Road; thence with said Satre Hill Road southeast to Old
Harford Road; thence by airline southwest to the intersec-
tion of Cowpen Road and the Baltimore City line; thence east
with said Baltimore City line to the place of beginning.

The tax herein authorized to be levied upon the property
within the above-described area shall be as follows: Upon all
property facing or abutting upon Harford Road the tax shall
not exceed twenty cents on every one hundred dollars of assess-
able property and upon all other property within said area
