of the town; said firehouse to be constructed under the
supervision of a joint committee of the Mayor and Town
Council and the Brentwood Volunteer Fire Department,
the plans of such construction to meet with the approval
of both the Mayor and Town Council and the Brentwood
Volunteer Fire Department before proceeding therewith.
Upon completion of said construction in accordance with
approved plans as herein provided, the Brentwood Vol-
unteer Fire Department, Incorporated are hereby author-
ized and empowered to become sole trustee of said fire-
house/with the exception of the aforementioned room pro-
vided for the Mayor and Town Council, and as such are
vested with the responsibility of its maintenance, repair
and upkeep through funds from the fire tax provided or
otherwise, and with no interference from the Mayor and
Town Council in said supervision, except in the case of
an appeal made to that body by the chief or a majority
group of active members of said fire department under any
unusual circumstances, in which case the decision of the
Mayor and Town Council shall be final and conclusive. In
order to carry out the provisions of this section, said
Mayor and Town Council of Brentwood, Maryland, are here-
by authorized and empowered to issue bonds or certificates
of indebtedness for such borrowed money bearing interest
at a rate not to exceed six per centum per annum, payable
semi-annually, unless of shorter duration, then at ma-
turity of said obligation, which said bonds or certificates
of indebtedness shall be made payable within not to ex-
ceed fifteen years from the date of issuance; and the Treas-
urer of the town of Brentwood is charged with the cus-
tody of any money received from the sale of said bonds or
certificates of indebtedness issued hereunder; provided,
however, that the bonds or certificates of indebtedness is-
sued hereunder shall be in addition to and not affected by
nor included in the limitation of Section 18-B of the town
charter of Brentwood as enacted by Chapter 167 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1927 and
amended by Chapter 21 of the Acts of the General Assem-
bly of Maryland of 1931. To provide for the payment of
interest on, and amortization of said bonds or certificates
of indebtedness, the Mayor and Town Council of Brent-
wood, Maryland, are hereby authorized and required to set
aside each year out of the fire tax fund provided in Section
1 of Chapter 135 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland of 1929 a sufficient amount of the annual fire tax
collections or receipts to pay first, the annual interest on
said bonds or certificates of indebtedness outstanding and
