"Montgomery County, " sub-title "Police, " as amended by
Chapter 375 of the Acts of 1931, be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments, to read as follows:

693. That the County Commissioners of Montgomery
County shall designate seven of the said police offi-
cers so appointed as sergeants of the Montgomery County
police at a salary Hot to exceed the sum of twenty-one hun-
dred ($2, 100. 00) dollars per annum, payable monthly, and
shall designate four of said police officers so appointed
as patrolmen, "first class, " of the Montgomery County
police at a salary not to exceed the sum of eighteen hundred
($1, 800. 00) dollars per annum, payable monthly; and shall
designate the remaining officers so appointed as patrolmen
at a salary not to exceed fifteen hundred ($1, 500. 00) dol-
lars per annum, payable monthly, and the County Commis-
sioners are further authorized to set up a fund equal to the
total amount of three hundred ($300) dollars for each
member of the police force, which fund shall be used by
the County Commissioners for the purpose of defraying
each members expenses for material and supplies for his
motorcycle, automobile, uniform and official equipment;
provided, however, that in no case will the fund so estab-
lished be paid to the members of the police force, but shall
be used to pay vouchers for all expenses submitted by the
members, which vouchers shall first bear the endorsement
of the sergeant in charge of the member's sub-station, and
of the Chief of Police, and that the members of the Mont-
gomery County police shall receive in addition to the
amounts herein specified, no other fees or compensation of
any kind whatsoever.

Provided that the said County Commissioners are hereby
authorized to increase the compensation of the members of
said force designated as "patrolmen" up to but not exceed-
ing the sum of sixteen hundred and eighty dollars
($1, 680. 00) per annum, said increase to be granted as fol-
lows: Upon the completion of each two years of service
the compensation of said patrolmen shall be increased
sixty dollars ($60. 00) per annum until such time as the
total annual compensation of a patrolman so compensated
shall not exceed $1, 680. 00 per annum, and provided, fur-
ther, that no additional compensation herein authorized
shall be granted except upon the recommendation of the
Chief of Police of Montgomery County and as herein
authorized.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
