CHAPTER 4.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
203 of Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Montgomery County,"
sub-title "County Treasurer," as said section was
amended by Chapter 320 of the Acts of 1931, so as to
provide for the appointment by the County Treasurer,
bond, duties and compensation of two Assistant Treas-
urers and other clerks; to provide for the appointment
by the Board of County Commissioners, bond, duties
and compensation of additional Clerks if deemed neces-
sary; and to provide for the keeping of the collection
books of the Treasurer in complete accord with the as-
sessment books in the office of the Board of County
Commissioners.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 203 of Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Montgomery County," sub-title "County Treasurer," as
said section was amended by Chapter 320 of the Acts of
1931, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

203. The County Treasurer of Montgomery County shall
appoint two (2) Assistant Treasurers at annual salaries of
Twenty-four Hundred Dollars ($2,400.00) and Eighteen
Hundred Dollars ($1,800.00) each, payable in equal monthly
installments and six (6) clerks at annual salaries of Fifteen
Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) each, payable in monthly in-
stallments. The Board of County Commissioners for Mont-
gomery County shall furnish such additional clerks whose
annual compensation shall not exceed Twelve Hundred Dol-
lars ($1,200.00), payable in equal monthly installments as,
in its discretion it may deem necessary, and all assistants
and all clerks so appointed shall take the oath of office
prescribed by the Constitution of this State and shall exe-
cute such bond or bonds as the Treasurer may require.
The Board of County Commissioners for Montgomery Coun-
ty is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to levy a
tax upon the assessable property of said county to pay the
salaries and bond premiums above mentioned and to pay
the same.

The Assistant Treasurer or Treasurers so appointed, or
either of them, shall, upon the written authority of the
