official station may be paid to the employee of the Depart-
ment under such terms and conditions as the Superin-
tendent may prescribe. The Superintendent may provide
lodging and subsistence for employees of the Department
at their official stations.

18. The Superintendent may from time to time estab-
lish headquarters and stations in such localities as he may
deem advisable for the enforcement of the laws of the
State, and to that end within the limits of appropriations
he may purchase, or otherwise acquire the right to use and
maintain lands and buildings, horses, motor equipment,
motor boats, and other commodities, equipment and services
deemed by him essential for the needs of the Department
or its employees in carrying out their duties. All such
property, or rights, shall be purchased or acquired through
the State Purchasing Agent and in accordance with the
rules of the State Purchasing Bureau, whenever the Super-
intendent, in his discretion, deems it advisable to have the
purchases made in such manner. The Superintendent may,
in his discretion, discontinue any headquarters or stations,
where such action seems to him to be desirable. The Super-
intendent shall have authority to sell or dispose of such
property as shall have become unnecessary or unfit f or fur-
ther use, and all moneys received therefrom shall be paid
into the State Treasury, and credited to the use of the De-
partment of Maryland State Police.

19. No employee of the Department of Maryland State
Police shall be allowed to receive any moneys as a gratuity,
extra compensation or reward, or in any other way, for any
services, unless with the consent of the Superintendent,
and any such moneys as any employee may be so permitted
to receive shall be paid over by the said employee to the
Superintendent and shall be appropriated by him as set
forth in rules and regulations made pursuant to this Act.
No employee of the Department shall be permitted to re-
ceive or collect any witness fees arising out of criminal
prosecutions in any State court.

20. The Superintendent shall create and maintain a
Bureau of Criminal Identification and Statistics, and shall
assign a competent police employee of rank designated by
him, and any number of assistants as he may deem neces-
sary to successfully operate said bureau. Such bureau shall
collect and maintain such data and perform such duties as
the Superintendent may direct. The Superintendent shall
co-operate with the Division of Investigation of United
