Somerset County and by such other advertisement as the
Mayor and Council of Crisfield deem advisable, but the
right is reserved unto the Mayor and Council of Crisfield
to reject any and all bids. If no bids are received after
such advertisement, or if all of the bids received are re-
jected by the said Mayor and Council of Crisfield, the said
Mayor and Council of Crisfield is authorized and empow-
ered to sell said bonds by private sale at not less than par
and accrued interest.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the proceeds
arising from the sale of said bonds shall be applied: first,
to the payment and refunding of all outstanding bonds
aggregating Thirty-eight Thousand Dollars ($38, 000. 00)
due and owing unto sundry persons, corporations or banks
by said municipal corporation.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That for the pur-
pose of securing the prompt payment of all installments
of interest on said bonds as the same shall become due semi-
annually as aforesaid, and for the purpose of redeeming
said bonds at maturity the Mayor and Council of Crisfield
are hereby authorized and directed to levy annually a spe-
cial tax upon the assessable property of the City of Cris-
field in such sum as may be necessary and sufficient to
pay the interest on said bonds semi-annually and to re-
deem Two Thousand Dollars ($2, 000. 00) of said bonds
annually commencing February 1st, 1936, as aforesaid,
until the same have been fully redeemed and retired, and
the said special tax hereby authorized to be levied in this
section shall be in addition to the amount already hereto-
fore authorized by the Charter of Crisfield and shall be
collected at the same time and in like manner as other
taxes levied in said city are collected, and that upon the
redemption of all of said bonds and the payment of the
interest thereon as aforesaid, then this special tax herein
provided for shall cease.
SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and being passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
