Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Licenses, " sub-title
"Intelligence Offices and Employment Agencies, " be and
the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, so as to read as follow?:
232. No person shall engage in business as an employ-
ment agent in this State without having a license to engage
in such business, in accordance with the provisions of Sec-
tions 232B and 232C.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That nine new sec-
tions be and they are hereby added to Article 56 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title
"Licenses, " sub-title "Intelligence Offices and Employment
Agencies, " said new sections to be known as Sections 232A,
232B, 232C, 232D, 232E, 232F, 232G, 232H and 232-1, to
follow immediately after said Section 232 of said Ar-
ticle and to read as follows:
232A. The term "Employment Agent" as used in this
sub-title shall include any and all persons, firms and cor-
porations engaged in the business of furnishing informa-
tion to persons seeking employment for the purpose of en-
abling any such person to secure the same, or engaged in
the business of soliciting employment for such persons by
means of advertising, personal solicitation, circulars, or
otherwise, in consideration of any fee or charge, paid or to
be paid, for such information or solicitation by persons
seeking employment; provided, however, that the term
employment agent shall not include any person employed
in any employment agency maintained by the State or by
any city, county, or other political sub-division thereof or
by the Federal Government or any agency thereof; and
provided, further, that the term employment agent shall
not include persons, firms or corporations engaged in con-
ducting registries by or for associations of registered
nurses, or employment bureaus of registered medical insti-
tutions or hospitals, nor shall it apply to persons, firms or
corporations maintaining departments for the purpose of
securing help for themselves and charging no fee therefor
nor to charitable agencies maintaining employment offices.
232B. All licenses to engage in business as an employ-
ment agent in this State shall be annual licenses, except as
hereinafter in this section provided, and shall be granted
by the Commissioner of State Employment and Registra-
