to keep a bowling alley, and every person, firm or corpora-
tion who shall keep a bowling alley, shall, before transact-
ing such business, pay for the privilege by first taking out
a license therefor, paying an annual license fee of $25. 00
for the first alley and the additional sum of $10. 00 for each
alley exceeding one, said licenses to be taken out in the
City of Baltimore, if such alleys are located in said city,
and if located in the counties, then in each county in which
said alleys may be located; provided, however, that no
license shall exceed $1, 000. 00 for each place so conducted.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported
by three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

Maryland, and to provide for a referendum thereon.

CHAPTER 296.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
232 of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1924 Edition), title "Licenses, " sub-title "Intelligence
Offices and Employment Agencies, " and to add nine new
sections to said Article, said new sections to be known as
232A, 232B, 232C, 232D, 232E, 232F, 232G, 232H and
232-1, and to follow immediately after Section 232 of said
Article, relating to the licensing of intelligence offices and
employment agencies, the licensing, regulation and in-
spection of employment agents and providing penalties
for the violation of any of the provisions hereof.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 232 of Article 56 of the Annotated
