culture while knowingly suffering from contagious or infec-
tious disease, or who shall knowingly serve any person
afflicted with such disease, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor,
and, upon conviction thereof, shall be sentenced to pay a
fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00), or
undergo an imprisonment not exceeding thirty (30) days,
or both, in the discretion of the court.
(d) Any operator, manager, teacher, student, appren-
tice or demonstrator, who shall infect any person, or who
shall impart any contagious or infectious disease, by reason
of carelessness or negligence in the practice of such occupa-
tion, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon convic-
tion, shall be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding Five
Hundred Dollars ($500. 00), or to undergo an imprisonment
not exceeding six months, or both, in the discretion of the
court.
420. VALIDITY OF ACT.
It is further enacted that should any section or part of
a section of this Act be held to be invalid for any reason,
such holding shall not be considered as affecting the
validity of any remaining section or part of a section of
this Act; it being the Legislative intent that the remainder
of this Act shall stand, notwithstanding the invalidity of
such section or part of a section.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That this Act shall take effect June
1st, 1935.

CHAPTER 283.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
316 and 317 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Crimes and Punish-
ments, " sub-title "Kidnapping, " punishing the crime of
kidnapping.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 316 and 317 of Article 27 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Crimes
and Punishments, " sub-title "Kidnapping, " be and they are
