County" sub-title "Hyattsville" be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as fol-
lows:
512. The Mayor and each councilman and all other of-
ficers and officials of the Mayor and Common Council, ex-
cept such officers or officials as may be appointed under Sec-
tion 511 and 514A, shall, before they enter upon the duties
of their office, take and subscribe, before any officer of the
State of Maryland duly authorized to take an affidavit, an
oath or affirmation that he will support the Constitution of
the United States; and that he will be faithful and bear
true allegiance to the State of Maryland, and support the
Constitution and laws thereof; and that he will to the best
of his skill and judgment, diligently and faithfully, with-
out partiality or prejudice, execute the office to which he
has been elected or appointed according to the Constitution
and laws of the State and shall file a certificate thereof of
the officer before whom the same was made among the rec-
ords of the corporation. The Mayor and Common Council
may require any of its officers to give bond in such penalty
and with such securities as it may deem necessary, condi-
tioned for the faithful performance of their duties, and said
bond shall be deposited in the hands of the Mayor and Com-
mon Council; when any officer wilfully fails to discharge
any duties of his office, he may in addition to the remedy
of his bond, be dismissed by the Mayor and Common Coun-
cil at its discretion.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1935.

CHAPTER 269.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
53 of Article 63 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1924 Edition), title "Mechanic's Lien, " sub-title "Jewel-
ers, " relating to the lien of jewelers and silversmiths.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 53 of Article 63 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Mechanic's Lien, "
sub-title "Jewelers, " be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
