immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
being passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to the two Houses of the
General Assembly the same shall take effect from the date
of its passage.

CHAPTER 241.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 19 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "St.
Mary's County, " to be under sub-title "Fire Companies, "
said new section to be known as Section 77A and to fol-
low immediately after Section 77 of said Article, author-
izing the County Commissioners of St. Mary's County to
levy and appropriate certain sums of money for the Vol-
unteer Fire Companies in said County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 19 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "St. Mary's County, " to be under
sub-title "Fire Companies, " said new section to be known
as Section 77A, to follow immediately after Section 77 of
said Article, and to read as follows:
77A. The County Commissioners of St. Mary's County
are hereby authorized to levy and appropriate annually a
sum of money, not exceeding One Thousand Dollars
($1, 000. 00), for the use of any Volunteer Fire Company
or Companies in said County. Any sum or sums appropri-
ated under the provisions of this section shall be paid by
the County Treasurer to such person or persons as may be
ordered by the said County Commissioners and shall be
used only for the purpose of purchasing and repairing fire
apparatus and equipment and for the maintenance and
support of such Volunteer Fire Company or Companies as
shall be designated by the said County Commissioners.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1935.
