drugs, drug products and domestic remedies and the
places where the same are manufactured, packed, pack-
aged, made, sold, offered for sale, exposed for sale and
kept for sale within this state.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That five new sections be, and the same are
hereby, added to Article 43 of Bagby's Annotated Code of
the Public General Laws of Maryland, Edition of 1924, title
"Health, " sub-title "Commissioners of Pharmacy, " to follow
immediately after Section 229 and to be known as Sections
229 (a), 229 (b), 229 (c), 229 (d) and 229 (e), respectively,
said new sections to read as follows:
229 (a). There shall be on file at all times in every
pharmacy the latest decennial revision of the United States
Pharmacopoeia and the latest edition of the National Form-
ulary, and supplements thereto, which books must be open
to the inspection of the Maryland Board of Pharmacy and
its properly authorized agents or employees. No permit
shall be issued or continued for the conduct of a pharmacy
until the provisions of this section have been complied with,
and any person violating this section shall, upon conviction,
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and fined not more than
ten ($10) dollars.
229 (b). Every registered pharmacy must be equipped
with proper pharmaceutical utensils so that prescriptions
can be properly filled and United States Pharmacopoeia and
National Formulary preparations properly compounded.
The Maryland Board of Pharmacy shall prescribe the min-
imum of such professional and technical equipment which
a pharmacy shall at all times possess. No permit shall be
issued or continued for the conduct of a pharmacy until the
provisions of this section shall have been complied with,
and any person violating this section, shall, upon conviction,
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and fined not more than
fifty ($50) dollars.
229 (c). No permit shall be issued or continued for the
conduct of a pharmacy unless the premises of such phar-
macy shall be equipped with proper sanitary appliances and
kept in a clean and orderly manner.
229 (d). There shall be kept in every pharmacy or drug
store a suitable book or file, in which shall be preserved for
a period of not less than five (5) years, every prescription
