a vacancy occurring in the office of any commissioner
through death, resignation or otherwise, a commissioner
shall be appointed by the Mayor by and with the advice
and consent of the City Council to fill out the remainder
of the term of said member who has died, resigned or
otherwise rendered his office vacant.

CHAPTER 158.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
426 of Article 13 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title, "Harford County, " sub-title "Orphans'
Court. "

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 426 of Article 13 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title, "Harford County, "
sub-title, "Orphans' Court" be and the same is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments, to read as follows:

Section 426. The judges of the Orphans' Court of Har-
ford County shall each receive the sum of Eight Dollars
($8. 00) for every day's attendance upon the sessions of
said Court, to be paid at least as often as at each and every
quarter after the qualification of said judges, by the Coun-
ty. If any judge is prevented from attending any session
of said Court on account of illness he shall be-paid therefor
in the same manner as if he had attended said session; and
the County Commissioners are hereby authorized and em-
powered to pay any of said judges for any time he may
have been so prevented from attending said Court since
January 1, 1934.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
