nies," said new section to be known as Section 257B and
to follow immediately after Section 257A of said Article,
authorizing and directing the County Commissioners of
Talbot County to levy taxes for the use of certain fire
companies in said County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it hereby added to
Article 21 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Talbot County," to be under new
sub-title "Fire Companies," said new section and sub-title
to be known as Section 257B, to follow immediately after
Section 257A of said Article, and to read as follows:

FIRE COMPANIES.

257B. The County Commissioners of Talbot County are
hereby authorized and' directed to appropriate annually
the sum of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) for the use
and benefit of the organized and incorporated fire compa-
nies of Talbot County and to levy on the taxable basis of
said County a tax sufficient to produce said Two Thou-
sand Dollars ($2,000.00). The amount thus levied and
appropriated shall be used for the purchase, improvement,
maintenance and operation of fire apparatus and fire
equipment for the said fire companies and the said Com-
missioners shall, on or before the fifteenth day of August
each year, pay to the treasurers of the several fire com-
panies the following amounts:

Easton Fire Company...................................................... $450.00

St. Michaels Fire Company.......................................... 450.00

Oxford Fire Company...................................................... 450.00

Trappe Fire Company...................................................... 250.00

Cordova Fire Company...................................................... 200.00

Tilghman Fire Company................................................ 200.00

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed upon by a yea and nay vote, sup-
ported by three-fifths of all of the members elected to each
of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
