privilege, to have the said Honorable Franklin Delano
Roosevelt visit the State and be our guest; therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Honorable Franklin Delano Roosevelt, President of the
United States, be and he is hereby invited to be the guest
of our State and to address the General Assembly of Mary-
land on any day which may be convenient to him; and be it
further
Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions under the
great seal of the State be sent to the President of the
United States, accompanied by an invitation to visit us and
be our guest any day before the expiration of the session
April first next.

NO. 3.
A Joint Resolution directing the Governor to proclaim
October 28th of each year for the observance and com-
memoration of the founding of the Republic of Czecho-
slovakia.
WHEREAS, The 28th day of October, 1918, is the date on
which the Republic of Czechoslovakia was founded; and
WHEREAS, The United States was the first country
through public announcement of the Secretary of State, on
June 3, 1918, to express sympathy with the purpose of
Prof. Thomas G. Masaryk and his fellow countrymen to
establish a Republic; and
WHEREAS, The said Prof. Thomas G. Masaryk was
elected first President of Czechoslovakia on November 14,
1918, and has been re-elected three times since then, the
last time in May, 1934, at the age of 84; and
WHEREAS, It is fitting that the recurring anniversary of
this day be commemorated with suitable patriotic and
public exercises in observing and commemorating the
founding of this great sister Republic in Europe; there-
fore be it

land, That the Governor of the State of Maryland be and
