CHAPTER 580.

AN ACT to add six new sections to Article 27 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments, " sub-title "Sabbath Break-
ing. " Said new sections to be known as Sections 483H,
483-1, 483J, 483K, 483L and 483M to permit the operation
of swimming pools, recreation centers, amusement parks
and picnic grounds in Montgomery County on Sunday
whether the same be operated for recreation or for
profit and to permit the operation of bowling alleys, ten-
pin alleys or duck-pin alleys in the Fifth Precinct of the
Thirteenth Election District of said County on Sunday.

SECTION 1. To be enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That six new sections be, and they are hereby
added to Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1924 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments, " sub-title
"Sabbath Breaking, " said new sections to be known as
483H, 483-1, 483J, 483K, 483L and 483M, to following im-
mediately after Section 483G of said article and to read as
follows:

483H. Nothing contained in Section 483 of this article
however, shall be construed to prohibit, penalize, or make
unlawful the operation of a swimming pool within Mont-
gomery County on the first day of the week, commonly
called Sunday with or without admission fee or other
charge, provided however, that it shall be unlawful for
any person or persons who engage in connection therewith
as an occupation, pursuit or business to officiate at or
assist in the conduct of the operation of a swimming pool
if operated on the first day of the week, commonly called
Sunday, within Montgomery County if operated within
one hundred yards of a permanent church edifice where
religious services are being held.

483-L Nothing contained in Section 483 shall be con-
strued as prohibiting, penalizing or making unlawful the
officiating at or assisting in the conduct of the operation
of a swimming pool within Montgomery County on the
first day of the week commonly called Sunday, as a mana-
ger, lifeguards, gate keepers, ticket sellers or any other at-
tendent or employee, although such person or persons so
officiating in connection therewith are engaged therein as
an occupation, pursuit or business; provided, however,
that it shall be unlawful for any person or persons who
engage therein as an occupation, pursuit or business, to
