HARRY W. NICE, GOVERNOR, 1057

by authorized, empowered and directed to fix a schedule of
fees or charges for the issuance of permits for the con-
struction, repair, erection or remodeling of houses or build-
ings in the Maryland-Washington Metropolitan District.
The Inspector of Buildings appointed as aforesaid shall
have the supervision of the construction of all buildings
erected in said district, including any town or special tax-
ing area, excepting Takoma Park and Kensington in said
district within Montgomery County and shall see that the
rules and regulations of the County Commissioners relating
to the construction of said building shall be complied with,
and shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by
the County Commissioners aforesaid not inconsistent with
this Act, provided that any person or persons violating any
rules and regulations so promulgated by the County Com-
missioners or this Act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction thereof in the Circuit Court or Police Court
of Montgomery County shall be fined not more than one
hundred dollars ($100. 00); and the County Commissioners
are hereby authorized and empowered to appoint and em-
ploy an assistant to the Building Inspector, who shall hold
office at the pleasure of the County Commissioners and shall
be paid as compensation for his services a sum not to ex-
ceed twenty-seven hundred dollars ($2, 700. 00) per annum,
the said assistant to the Building Inspector to be under the
direction of the County Building Inspector and shall per-
form such duties as may be required in enforcing the
Building Code for Montgomery County. The County Build-
ing Inspector and his assistant shall give their full time to
the performance of their duties as such public officers.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1935.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
589 of Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Montgomery County, "
sub-title "Maryland-Washington Metropolitan District, "
relating to the use of moneys by The Maryland-National
Capital Park and Planning Commission.
