Governor shall appoint three commissioners who are here-
by constituted a board of commissioners by the name and
style of "Commissioners for the Promotion of Uniformity
of Legislation in the United States, " and who shall repre-
sent Maryland in the National Conference of Commission-
ers on Uniform Sta, te Laws. It shall be the duty of said
board to examine into and ascertain the best means to
effect uniformity in the laws of the various States and espe-
cially to meet with representatives appointed by the other
States in a convention now popularly called "The National
Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, " to
draft uniform laws to be submitted for the approval and
adoption of the several States and to recommend such ac-
tion as shall best accomplish the promotion of such uni-
formity in legislation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That such commissioners
shall hold office for a term of four years or until their suc-
cessors have been duly appointed. No member of said board
shall receive any compensation for his services as com-
missioner but each commissioner shall be entitled to receive
his actual disbursements for his expenses in performing the
duties of his office, not to exceed, however, in the aggregate
the amount of the appropriation to said commissioners
made from time to time in the budget. In case any of the
persons so appointed as above will not undertake the office
of this commission or in case of a vacancy on said board,
caused by death, resignation or otherwise, such vacancy
shall be filled by the Governor.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said board may employ
such persons and incur such expenses as may be necessary
in the performance of their duties but the annual expense
of said board shall not exceed such sum as may be appro-
priated therefor in the budget.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted,, That the said board may, out
out its annual appropriation, contribute to the expenses of
the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform
State Laws such sum as they may think proper, not exceed-
ing, however, Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($250. 00)
a year.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That said board shall report
to the Legislature at each regular session thereof an ac-
count of its transactions and its advice and recommenda-
tions, as required by Section 1 of this act.
