known as Section 489A and to follow immediately after
Section 489 of said Article, requiring the County Com-
missioners for Allegany County to adopt an old age pen-
sion system for Allegany County in accordance with the
provisions of Article 70A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1929 Supplement) as amended by Chapter
114 of the Acts of 1931, title "Old Age Pensions. "
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That one new section be, and the same is here-
by added, to Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Allegany County", sub-
title "Old Age Pensions", to be known as Section 489A
to follow immediately after Section 489 of said Article
and to read as follows:
489A. The County Commissioners for Allegany
County shall appropriate a sum of not less than fifteen
thousand ($15, 000. 00) dollars in the year 1934, and each
succeeding year thereafter, for the purpose of creating an
old age pension fund in accordance with the provisions of
Article 70A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1929
Supplement), as said Article was amended by Chapter 114
of the Acts of 1931, and to make provision for the dis-
bursement of said fund in conformity with the provisions
of said Article 70A of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
or so much thereof as may be applicable to and consistent
with the provisions of this Act.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safe-
ty, and being passed by a yea and nay vote supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
