CHAPTER 47.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commis-
sioners of Harford County to grant pensions to Charles
Devoe and Grace Devoe.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Harford
County be and they are hereby authorized and empowered
to grant a pension of one hundred dollars ($100. 00) each
per year, payable quarterly, to Charles Devoe and Grace
Devoe.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
be hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety, and being passed upon by a yea and nay vote sup-
ported by three-fifths of all the members elected to each of
the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Approved December 15, 1933.

CHAPTER 48.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commission-
ers of Allegany County to borrow upon the faith and
credit of said County to the amount of Five Hundred
and Twenty-five Thousand ($525, 000. 00) Dollars, and
to issue and sell bonds to said amount or to pledge the
same as collateral with any Federal or private body au-
thorized to lend money to said County, the proceeds
thereof to be used for the purpose of building, equipping,
heating, lighting, ventilating, and furnishing a public
school building at Cumberland, Allegany County, Mary-
land, and the acquisition of such land as may be neces-
sary therefor; to provide that all of the proceeds from
the sale of said bonds remaining after the payment of
all costs and expenses incident to said new school build-
ing shall be expended by the Board of Education of Alle-
gany County for the permanent improvement of old pub-
lic school buildings in Allegany County; to provide for
an annual levy on the assessable property of Allegany
County to pay the interest and principal on said bonds
when due; and to provide that said Act be passed as an
emergency measure.
