233. The County Commissioners of said County shall
have power to levy annually a sum sufficient to pay said
person or persons that may be appointed as hereinbefore
provided, and all proper expenses, provided that no person
appointed shall be paid over One Hundred Dollars per
month in the discretion of the County Commissioners; pro-
vided, however, that the Police Officer for the Second Elec-
tion District shall be paid a salary of One Hundred Twenty-
Five Dollars ($125. 00) per month.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1936.

CHAPTER 28.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
231 and 232 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll
County, " sub-title "Mt. Airy, " and Sections 579 and 580
of Article 11 of said Code, title "Frederick County, " sub-
title "Mt. Airy, " authorizing an increase in the tax rate
of Mt. Airy and authorizing the Mayor and Council of
said town to borrow money under certain limitations.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 231 and 232 of Article 7 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Carroll County, " sub-title "Mt. Airy, " and Sections
579 and 580 of Article 11 of said Code, title "Frederick
County, " sub-title "Mt. Airy, " be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
. follows:

231. (579. ) The Mayor and Council of Mt. Airy shall
annually levy such tax upon all assessable property within
the corporate limits, except such real estate as is used ex-
clusively for farming purposes, as may be necessary for
municipal purposes, not to exceed in any one year the sum
of one dollar ($1. 00) on the one hundred dollars ($100. 00),
and all taxes levied on property assessed as provided by
this Act shall be a lien on said property—real and personal
—until paid, and interest shall be chargeable on said taxes
