erated. Commercial Motor Vehicles, two axles, pneumatic
tires, and operated by motor fuel shall not be used or op-
erated on any highway of this State with gross weight
exceeding those as set forth in the following classes:

Commercial vehicles, with a shipping weight less than
2, 500 pounds, shall not have a gross weight in excess of
6, 000 pounds.

Commercial vehicles, with a shipping weight of 2, 500
pounds and over, but less than 3, 500 pounds shall not have
a gross weight in excess of 12, 000 pounds.

Commercial vehicles, with a shipping weight of 3, 500
pounds and over, but less than 5, 000 pounds shall not have
a gross weight in excess of 16, 000 pounds.

Commercial vehicles, with a shipping weight of 5, 000
pounds and over, but less than 6, 000 pounds shall not have
a gross weight in excess of 20, 000 pounds.

Commercial vehicles, with a shipping weight of 6, 000
pounds and over, but less than 7, 500 pounds, shall not have
a gross weight in excess of 23, 000 pounds.

Commercial vehicles, with a shipping weight of 7, 500
pounds and over, shall not have a gross weight in excess
of 26, 000 pounds. The State Roads Commission with re-
spect to highways under its jurisdiction may by resolution
prohibit the operation of vehicles upon any such highway
or impose restrictions as to the weight of vehicles to be
operated upon any such highway, for a total period of not
to exceed 90 days in any one calendar year, whenever any
said highway by reason of ~deterioration, rain, snow, or
other climatic conditions will be seriously damaged or de-
stroyed unless the use of vehicles thereon is prohibited or
the permissible weights thereof reduced.

The State Roads Commission enacting any such resolu-
tion shall erect or cause to be erected and maintained signs
designating the provisions of the ordinance or resolution
at each end of that portion of any highway affected there-
by, and the resolution shall not be effective unless and un-
til such signs are erected and maintained.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1936.
