property subject to such regulations and restrictions as
may be deemed advisable for the protection to such
public places or to enhance the usefulness thereof, and
prescribing the procedure to be followed in the event
such condemnation is resorted to.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added
to Article 24 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "Worcester County, " sub-title
"Pocomoke City, " said new section to be known as Section
223A, and to follow immediately after Section 223, and to
read as follows:

223A. In addition to and not in derogation of the
powers heretofore granted to and possessed by it, the
Mayor and Council of Pocomoke City shall have power to
acquire by purchase or condemnation any land and prop-
erty or any interest therein which in the discretion of the
Mayor and Council of Pocomoke City said Municipality
may require for the establishment or enlargement of mar-
kets, parks, squares, playgrounds, public reservations,
gardens or other public places, and also any and all land
and property or interest in land and property adjoining
and extending such distance as may be adjudged necessary
from any property in use or about to be acquired for any
such market, park, square, playground, public reserva-
tion, garden or other public place as aforesaid, the use of
which said adjacent property it may be deemed necessary
or beneficial to subject to lawful restrictions or control in
order better to protect or enhance the usefulness of or
more fully to effectuate the purposes of the establishment
of any such market, park, square, playground, public res-
ervation, garden or other public place as aforesaid; and
thereafter to sell such adjacent lands or property, subject
to such reservations or restrictions as may appear advis-
able for the protection of or for enhancing the usefulness
of or in any manner to promote the interests of the public
in such public place as aforesaid or in any manner better
to accomplish the purposes and serve the public interests
for which such public place shall have been or shall be
established. In the event condemnation is resorted to in
order to acquire any such property, the proceedings in any
such condemnation shall be as prescribed in Article 33A
of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland (1924
Edition).
