lars per year, and to be paid by Worcester County,
and the said Commissioners shall meet at least one
day in every week and shall remain in session so long
as may be necessary to properly transact the business of
the County, but nothing herein contained shall be con-
strued to affect or alter the terms of office of the County
Commissioners already elected or to change or alter the
compensation of the County Commissioners prior to the
beginning of the terms of office of those who will be elected
under the provisions hereof in November, 1934.

270. The Treasurer shall appoint a deputy, who shall
perform such duties as the said Treasurer may require,
and for whose official conduct said Treasurer shall be re-
sponsible, and who shall act in his stead and place in his
absence, and said deputy shall be paid an annual salary of
$1200. 00 by Worcester County. The said Treasurer is here-
by authorized and empowered to employ a clerk in addition
to the said deputy, at such compensation as may be fixed
by the County Commissioners of Worcester County, not
exceeding $1200. 00 per year, to be paid by said county.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1936.

CHAPTER 128.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 24 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Worcester County, " sub-title "Pocomoke City, " to fol-
low immediately after Section 223 and to be known as
Section 223A, to authorize Mayor and Council of Poco-
moke City to acquire by purchase, or condemnation any
land and property or any interest therein which in the
discretion of said Mayor and Council of Pocomoke City
said municipality may require for the establishment or
enlargement of markets, parks, squares, playgrounds,
gardens or other public places and also any and all land
and property or any interest therein adjoining such
public places as may be deemed necessary to effectuate
the purposes of the establishment and/or enlargement
of such public places and to sell such adjacent lands or
