ing or improvements to school building in some other dis-
trict or districts.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1936.

CHAPTER 58.

AN ACT to authorize, empower and direct the Maryland
National Capital Park & Planning Commission to acquire
by condemnation or otherwise land and easements nec-
essary for the construction of levees and flood control
works within the Metropolitan District of Prince
George's County, to pay all damages incident to such im-
provements and to operate and maintain such flood con-
trol works when constructed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Maryland National Capital Park &
Planning Commission be and it is hereby authorized and
directed, whenever in its judgment it is necessary to pro-
vide for flood control within the Metropolitan District of
Prince George's County, to condemn land and easements
which may be necessary in the construction of levees and
other flood control works, the condemnation proceedings
to be in accordance with the provisions of Article 33A of
the Annotated Code of Maryland. The said Commission is
hereby authorized to assume all damages incident to any
flood control works or improvements which it may be found
necessary to construct, except damages to land and ease-
ments of railroads or other public utilities. The said Com-
mission shall also have power to agree to furnish, without
cost to the United States or any agency thereof, all lands
and easements which may be needed in the construction
of any flood control works or improvements and shall have
power to agree to take over, operate and maintain such
works when constructed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed upon by a yea and nay vote, sup-
