WHEREAS, it is desirable that provision be made as soon as prac-
ticable for the establishment of a Chronic Disease Hospital in or
near Baltimore City, in order to take care of the many persons who
require care in such an institution; therefore, be it
Resolved by the City Council of Baltimore, That the Governor
and the General Assembly of Maryland be and they are hereby
requested to take whatever steps may be necessary to acquire Syden-
ham Hospital and grounds from the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore, for the establishment of a Chronic Disease Hospital in
Baltimore City for persons residing in and near said City w^ho
require care in such an institution; and be it further
Resolved, That such action be taken as soon as practicable, in
order to alleviate conditions now existing as to the many aged
persons who need custodial care; and be it further
Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the City Council be and he is
hereby directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Governor
of the State, the President of the State Senate, the Speaker of the
House of Delegates, the Board of Public Works and the State
Budget Director.
