WHEREAS, if this practice is continued, it will greatly reduce the
consumption of Maryland coal, thereby reducing employment in
mines; therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Delegates of Maryland, That the Board
of Public Works be and it is hereby requested to give careful con-
sideration before substituting some other form of heating than by
coal for state buildings and institutions; and be it further

Resolved, That this Resolution be spread upon the Journal of the
House of Delegates of Maryland and that the Chief Clerk be and he
is hereby direct to send a copy of this Resolution to the Director of
Budget and Procurement and to the Board of Public Works.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee on
Rules.

HOUSE RESOLUTION;
By Mr. See:

House Resolution requesting public officials in this .State to purchase
certain manufactured goods from The Maryland Workshop for
the Blind.

WHEREAS, the Maryland Workshop for the Blind, located at 601
N. Fulton Ave., Baltimore, Md., is a State-aided institution and is.
filling a valuable economic and social function in the life of tha-
State of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, the Maryland Workshop for tlie Blind is contributing
to the economic support and social morale of approximately 150
handicapped persons who are employed therein, in addition to its
services for hundreds of other blind persons throughout the State;
and

WHEREAS, the Maryland Workshop for the Blind produces such
manufactured articles as brooms, mops and pillow cases, and is
contemplating the manufacture of still other products, all of which
are frequently used bj the State and local agencies; and

WHEREAS, orders placed with the Maryland Workshop for the
Blind by the Federal Government are now being curtailed; now,
therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Delegates of Maryland, That the activi-
ties of the Maryland Workshop for the Blind should be encouraged
in every possible respect; and be it further
